Job Title: Accounting Analyst
Working Pattern: Fulltime
Working location: Indianapolis, IN
The Accounting Analyst - JSF will be responsible for handling all aspects of billing, reconciling and submission of entries to the NAFSC. This role will support the budgeting, forecasting, and month end closing processes for the program while providing deeper financial analysis to support program decision making.
In addition to traditional accounting support activities, this role will perform analytical reviews of financial data, own various reconciliations, and identify opportunities to improve financial processes and controls. The analyst will play an integral role within the program team by providing financial insight, identifying risks and opportunities, and supporting initiatives that improve the performance of the business and finance function.
The Accounting Analyst will also monitor purchase orders, including preparation of sub-contract tables, submission of PO changes, as well as variance to spend.

Key Accountabilities:
- Early career Finance Professional role to act as a pro-active member within Finance and its interfaces.
- Interpret financial information to support higher level decision making; participate in project teams to help solve financial issues; exercise judgement using professional knowledge/experience within own area
- Perform detailed financial analysis to support program performance management, including identification of risks and opportunities
- Support month-end close process, including preparing accounting journal entries, ensuring financials are recorded accurately and timely
- Prepare and review program reconciliations, ensuring accuracy of financial data and compliance with accounting practices
- Present financial data to management and be capable of validating and explaining the accounting policies, principles, and procedures involved.
- Researching and reviewing accounting issues and providing recommendations and support
- Providing financial advice to line managers to ensure business deals are correctly accounted and optimized
- Improve financial processes and maintain their alignment with associated processes

Basic Requirements:
- Associate's degree in Accounting or Finance with 3+ years of experience OR;
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance with 1+ years of experience OR;
- Masters degree in Accounting or Finance OR;
- A JD/PhD OR;
- In lieu of degree, 5+ years of experience
- In order to be considered for this opportunity, you must be eligible to obtain and maintain security clearance, which requires USA Citizenship
- Understanding of month-end close processes and accounting entries
Preferred Requirements :
- Experience supporting financial close process in a complex program environment
- Ability to collaborate, build relationships, and influence key stakeholders
- Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint capability required; SAP experience preferred, but not required
- Demonstrate a basic accounting knowledge in their area and understand/appreciate the wider business area that they work with and/or support
- Visual Basic programming experience and/or Advanced Excel skills
- High levels of integrity and trustworthiness
- Ability to maintain composure under pressure
- Flexible and adept at balancing competing requirements
- Strong analytical thinking skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Strong communication skills, both written and oral
